Recordings Made In Public Spaces Volume One

Out Of Stock

For the past two years, Chicago-based sound artist J. R. Robinson has been creating live, ambient tonefields in such museums as the Andy Warhol (Pittsburgh), The Guggenheim (NYC), The Getty (LA), The Pompidou Center (Paris), and The Art Center Berlin. He injects these recordings into collaborations with like-minded heavy-hitters in the noise, post-rock, and jazz worlds from such groups as The Jesus Lizard, US Maple, Tortoise, Bride Of No No, and The Vandermark 5. The result is a distinctive hybrid of sound art and avant-garde music evoking the essences of Joe McPhee's "Nation Time", Lou Reed's "Metal Machine Music", and the sound collages of Stockhausen. Presented as CD + DVD double-disc release
